Leslie Odom Jr. is looking for “Love in the Time of Corona”: The”Hamilton” and”Smash” vet will probably star in Freeform’s restricted occasion collection, along with his real-life wife Nicolette Robinson (“The Affair”), both of whom will also serve as executive producers.
Also joining the cast are Tommy Dorfman (“13 Reasons Why”), Rainey Qualley (“Mad Men”), Gil Bellows (“Patriot,””Ally McBeal”), Rya Kihlstedt (“The Bold Type,””Charmed”), Ava Bellows (“This Too Shall Pass”) and L. Scott Caldwell (“All Rise,””Missing”).
Produced by Joanna Johnson (Great Trouble), the four-part series follows four interwoven stories concerning the optimistic search for connection and love throughout the coronavirus-imposed quarantine. The series starts production now in Los Angeles, with all remote technologies to picture within the talents’ real homes.
Odom Jr. and Robinson will perform James and Sade,”a few who’ve been living marginally different lives: He’s a busy career which keeps him on the street, and she’s at home raising their kid,” per the official synopsis. “After the pandemic sets them under a single roof, their timing together leads them to reevaluate their connection along with their priorities.”
Dorfman and Qualley co-star as powerful non-binary stylist Oscar and aspiring singer-songwriter Elle, respectively, whose”mostly platonic friendship gets increasingly complex as Oscar’s newest online date advances toward connection territory as Elle’s neighborly crush begins to blossom”
Bellows, his real life spouse Kihlstedt and their daughter Ava depict a family that decides to quarantine collectively, despite gently separating months before, when their kid returns home from school.
Caldwell rounds out the cast as Nanda, a teenaged girl who’s not able to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband (guest star Charlie Robinson,”Mother”) following his rehabilitation facility extends into lockdown as a consequence of COVID-19.
“Love in the Time of Corona” is slated to debut this August.
