Trump Got Written Briefing in February on Potential Russian Bounties, Officials Say

“It’s been apparent for a while that Russia doesn’t want us well in Afghanistan,” they stated in a joint announcement. “We think it’s necessary to vigorously pursue some advice associated with Russia or another nation targeting our forces”

Additional Republicans who attended the briefing were sanguine. In a meeting, Representative Chris Stewart of Utah said that he saw nothing strange regarding the supposed decision to not inform Mr. Trump, especially when the situation didn’t need the president to take instant actions.

“It simply didn’t get to the amount of authenticity to deliver it into the president’s focus,” he stated, adding that army and intelligence agencies must continue to inspect Russia’s actions.

The Associated Press first reported the intelligence community has been analyzing the deaths of both Marine reservists: Personnel Sgt. Christopher Slutman, 43, of Newark, Del.; Cpl. Robert A. Hendriks, 25, of Locust Valley, N.Y.; and Sgt. Benjamin S. Hines, 31, of York, Pa.

They had been murdered near Bagram Air Base when a car laden with explosives struck on their truck, wounding an Afghan builder too. The massive blast set fire to the truck, engulfing people indoors in fires, while their fellow Marines attempted to extricate thema defense official said. A brief firefight ensued.

Gen. Zaman Mamozai, the former police chief of Parwan Province, in which Bagram Airfield isalso, stated that the Taliban there employ freelancers out of local criminal networks, often blurring the lines of that completed exactly what strikes. He said that the Taliban’s commanders were just located in two areas of the state, Seyagird and Shinwari, and out there that they coordinate a broader network that mostly commissions the services of criminals.

The Taliban have denied participation. And a spokesman for President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, told NBC News on Monday that reports of this Russian plot were erroneous. He explained that”not one of those American agents have raised this query” using their Russian counterparts throughout diplomatic or government channels.
